A very vigorous village situated in a quite narrow valley of the Železný potok (Iron Creek). The first written reference to the village is from the year 1315. Its population originally comprised mainly of miners and wood-cutters.

The village consists of several settlements (Ráztoky, Bindt, Hnilčík). Nowadays the region is successively changing into a recreation area. In a part called Mráznica, there you can find many winter sports facilities (ski-tows, cross-country ski runs).
