The first written reference about the village is from the year 1268 - where it is mentioned as an important parish called "Baldmar". I was named according to its founder and was one of 24 royal towns of the Spiš Sas Province. In the 15-th century Harichovce became a part of the Spiš Castle region.

In the village, there is a Roman-Catholic church (originally built in the Gothic style, in 1760 rebuilt in the Baroque style). In the church there is beautiful wall painting from Ján Hanula.
